Poru

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 27, 2026

Poru helps you take a brief, mindful pause before unlocking distracting apps. This policy explains what information Poru does - and does not - collect, and how it is used.

What we collect

  • Your reflections. When you complete a task by writing a response, the text you type is sent to and stored on our server so the task can be marked complete.
  • App context. When the app opens a task, it may tell us the name of the app you're trying to unlock, so we can tailor the on-screen message.
  • Basic technical data. Like any website, our server keeps standard, short-lived request logs (such as timestamps) to operate and secure the service.

What we don't collect

  • No accounts. Poru has no sign-up. We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number. (If you email us for support, we'll naturally see your email address.)
  • Photos stay on your device. Some tasks ask you to take a photo. The photo is used only on your device to confirm you completed the task - it is never uploaded to us or stored anywhere.
  • No tracking or ads. We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or trackers, and we never sell or share your information.
  • On-device blocking settings. Which apps you block and your Screen Time settings stay on your device and are never sent to us.

How your information is used

The limited information we receive is used only to provide the reflection and temporary-unlock experience. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Storage & retention

Reflections are stored on our own server and kept only as long as needed to run the service. They are tied to an anonymous session, not to your identity, so we generally cannot connect a given entry back to a specific person.

Children's privacy

Poru is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above.
